Choosy 2.5

This version of Choosy was released on 28th September 2025, it requires at least macOS 15.6 (Sequoia) to run.

Release notes

New features

• Liquid Glass icon, for that macOS Tahoe look.
• Completely re-built prompts:
  • Updated row prompt design. The original row prompt was styled to look like the Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger ⌘+⇥ menu! The updated design looks more like the modern Sequoia or Tahoe ⌘+⇥ menu.
  • Multiple prompt styles: Liquid Glass (Tahoe only), translucent material, solid grey, or the classic semi-transparent grey.
  • Support for dark mode and light mode in the prompt.
  • Improved accessibility for VoiceOver users.
  • Quickly select a browser with new keyboard shortcuts (⌘+1, ⌘+2, etc.).
  • Only domains are displayed by default, with a padlock icon to indicate HTTPS, making it easier to verify the most important details at a glance.
  • Hovering to see the full URL uses the native macOS popover to show the full URL, instead of expanding the whole prompt window.
  • An icon at the end of the URL in the prompt indicates when short URL expansion is in progress.
• Improved prompt settings interface:
  • Preview your prompt settings with different backgrounds.
  • Preview your prompt settings with different numbers of browsers.
• Help is searchable from Spotlight.
• On Tahoe, browser profile icons are cropped to the new app icon shape (on Sequoia they continue to be cropped to circles).

Bug fixes

• Help buttons should now reliably open the correct documentation page.
• More reliably track which browsers are running. Application launch and terminate notificatons sometimes contain paths with symbolic links, which don't match the absolute paths Choosy uses to reference browsers.

Behind the scenes

• Dropping support for macOS 14 made some more modern APIs available, e.g. for discovering installed browers.
• Browser prompts and the Prompt, Advanced, and About settings tabs now use Swift UI.
